Association of Worship & Venue Technicians
Curriculum & Standards
We define clear, practical standards for volunteer technicians — and develop structured curriculum pathways to help them achieve those standards across eight technical disciplines.
Independent Certification
Once a volunteer completes relevant training, we arrange independent assessments to verify their skills. When they meet the required standards, they’re awarded peer-recognised certification — helping them grow in confidence and credibility.

About Us
Promoting Excellence Through Certification & Training Standards
AThe Association of Worship & Venue Technicians (AWVT) exists to empower volunteers with the skills, support, and recognition they need to serve confidently and competently in Worship and Arts venues.
Our Mission
To empower volunteer technicians in Houses of Worship and community arts venues by developing training frameworks, setting certification standards, and connecting people with the tools, trainers, and support they need to thrive.
Our Vision
Deliver the best. Be the best. Together.
We’re building a national community of skilled, trusted, and empowered volunteer technicians — elevating the experience for audiences, teams, and the message at the heart of it all.
When we raise the standard, everyone benefits.
Who’s behind the AWVT?
AWVT is backed by a growing community of individuals and organisations, including:
AV equipment manufacturers
Individual AV and IT trainers
House of Worship tech team leaders
Professional AV technicians
Event organisers
Hundreds of committed volunteer technicians
We all agree: there’s a serious gap in accessible, affordable technical training for volunteers — especially for those not on full-time apprenticeships, college courses, or able to fund commercial AV programmes.
AWVT exists to close that gap — with open access training, peer-reviewed certification, and a national framework built for volunteers.
