Equipping Volunteer Technicians Across Worship & Arts Venues

Promoting Excellence Through Certification and Training Standards

How We Empower Volunteer Technicians

Curriculum & Standards

We define the standards that Volunteer Technicians should be capable of achieving and set the curriculum they need to study in order otherwise achieve those standards.

Find out about our standards here.

Independent Certification

When a volunteer has completed a relevant section of our curriculum, we can arrange to independently assess that volunteer to measure if them meet the required standard and then award an appropriate certificate.

Find out about assessments here.

connecting Trainees with Trainers

The AWVT connects prospective volunteer trainees with appropriately qualified trainers who can help them achieve the required expectations and obtain peer-approved certification for their skills.

About Us

The Association of Worship & Venue Technicians (AWVT) exists to empower volunteer technicians with the skills and certifications needed to excel in worship and arts venues.

Mission.

To empower volunteer technicians in Houses of Worship and amateur arts venues by establishing certification standards, developing training frameworks, and connecting individuals with resources and support to enhance their technical skills.

Vision.

To be the leading authority in technical training and certification for volunteer technicians, fostering excellence and professionalism in worship and arts venues across the UK, while creating pathways for further education and career advancement.

AWVT Supporters

Who is behind the AWVT?

There are an assortment of organisations and individuals who are backing the development of the AWVT.

  • AV Equipment Manufacturers
  • Individual AV & IT Trainers
  • House of Worship Technical Team Leaders
  • Professional AV Technicians
  • Event Organisers
  • A large number of individual volunteer technicians

What we all agree on is that there a gap in available technical training and curriculum that can be access by volunteers or other who are NOT either on a full-time Apprenticeship, engaged in full-time further or higher education or have the funds to pay for full-time professional AV technician courses. Everyone involved in supporting the 100,000+ venues in the UK that are completely reliant on volunteer technical skills recognises the need for accessible training. The AWVT has been established to make that happen.

Want to get involved?

You may be a volunteer technician yourself, you may have the skills to train such volunteers, or just want to facilitate the cause. Whatever way, we would love to engage with you.

Let us together make volunteering as a technician count!

When connected with us, you are not alone. The AWVT is a place to work together to enable volunteer technicians to get better at what they do. So, if you are will into contribute in any way at all, we are right here!
